Major Service  Projects

Meeting Schedule

Clairton SHIP

01/

Clairton Police Partnership Programs

Our main goal this year was to support the Police Department’s initiative to open the Lifespan center this summer two evenings a week from mid-June to the beginning of August, providing a safe place for the youth to go in the evening hours. We also continue to support the "Fight then Flight" and "How to Walk the Streets" workshops.

02/

Clairton Library Summer Reading Program

The National Reading Panel found that increasing the time that children spend reading is the most important strategy for retention and improved literacy. CCP funds would be used to support the summer reading program and purchase additional launchpads.

03/

Clairton Health Fair

Every year, SHIP, TCV Community Services, and Clairton School District plans an annual health fair for the students, parents, and residents of Clairton and surrounding communities. At this health fair, many health organizations are present to do screenings, health education and help link those who attend to needed health care services.

04/

Youth Opportunity Development (YOD)

YOD began taking Clairton youth on annual summer field trips to promote students leadership skills and enhance cultural diversity in 2012 when they realized that many youths in the program had never been on an out of state field trips during their childhood. Each student must earn their way onto the trip through good behavior and grades, as well as participating in fundraising and planning.
